Implantable Phakic Contact Lens

Implantable Phakic Contact Lens

Introduction

Implantable Phakic Contact Lenses (IPCL) are a type of intraocular lens specifically designed for patients with high levels of myopia, hyperopia, or astigmatism who are not suitable candidates for LASIK or other refractive surgeries. Unlike traditional contact lenses that sit on the surface of the eye, IPCLs are surgically implanted within the eye while leaving the natural lens intact. This innovative approach allows for effective vision correction without permanently altering the eye’s structure.

Who Can Use?

IPCLs are ideal for individuals who meet specific criteria, including:

Patients with High Myopia or Hyperopia

Individuals Unsuitable for LASIK

Young Adults

What Can They Be Used For?

Implantable Phakic Contact Lenses are primarily used for:

Vision Correction

IPCLs effectively correct severe refractive errors, allowing patients to achieve clear vision without the need for glasses or traditional contact lenses.

Enhanced Quality of Vision

These lenses provide excellent optical quality, reducing issues such as glare, halos, and distortion that can occur with some other vision correction methods.

Advantages of Scleral Lenses

The benefits of Implantable Phakic Contact Lenses make them an attractive option for many patients:

IPCLs can be removed if necessary, providing flexibility for patients whose vision changes over time.
IPCLs are implanted without removing the natural lens; therefore, patients retain their eye's natural structure, minimizing the risk of complications associated with lens removal.
IPCLs offer sharp and clear vision, without the hassle of glasses or traditional contact lenses.
Patients do not need to worry about daily lens care, making IPCLs a low-maintenance option for long-term vision correction.
Minimal recovery time.
